FAMILY
HOLIDAYS

Looking for a magical family escape where your children can roam free, explore nature, and create memories that last a lifetime? Welcome to the Linhay at Butterhills Escapes – your tucked-away retreat in the heart of North Devon, where adventure and relaxation go hand in hand.

A Natural Playground for Young Explorers
Let your children experience the simple joys of the great outdoors. Our woodlands, meadows, and stream provide endless opportunities for adventure. Watch as they splash and paddle in the clear, shallow waters, race across the meadows, or build dens among the trees. Hammocks strung beneath the stars offer a peaceful retreat after a day of fun, and the fire pit is perfect for toasting marshmallows and sharing stories under the night sky.

Meet the Chickens & Collect Fresh Eggs
Start the day with a hands-on experience – come and help feed our friendly chickens and collect freshly laid eggs for breakfast! It’s a delightful activity for your child and a wonderful way to connect with nature.

A Cosy Stay for the Whole Family
The Linhay sleeps four comfortably, with a king-size bed on the mezzanine and a double sofa bed downstairs. Children often love claiming the mezzanine space as their own little hideaway, and we’re happy to provide separate single quilts for siblings sharing. Don’t worry, parents – the sofa bed is super comfy, so everyone gets a great night’s sleep!
Please note: Butterhills Escapes is perfect for children aged five and over, ensuring they can fully enjoy the space and activities safely. We're sorry we can't welcome guests under 5.

Days Out & Beach Adventures
North Devon is famous for its spectacular coastline, and you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to family-friendly beaches. Build sandcastles, wave jump and swim, and try bodyboarding at Saunton, Croyde, Putsborough, and Woolacombe. For something a little different, discover the hidden rocky coves of Lee Bay and Sandy Cove, where a secret smugglers’ path connects them at low tide!

Cycle the Tarka Trail
Bring your bikes or hire them locally to explore the scenic Tarka Trail. This level, traffic-free route follows the Taw and Torridge estuaries, offering fantastic views and plenty of tempting refreshment stops. Enjoy tea and cake at Fremington Quay, or treat the family to a delicious pasty lunch at John’s Deli in Instow.

Family-Friendly Attractions
For fun-filled days out, visit Borough Farm, home to TV’s Mist the Sheepdog, where you can enjoy exciting sheepdog and falconry displays. Other fantastic family attractions include Exmoor Zoo, Watermouth Castle, The Milky Way, and The Big Sheep – all guaranteed to bring smiles and laughter to your holiday.
Escape to Butterhills, where childhood memories are made and nature takes centre stage. We can’t wait to welcome your family for a truly special getaway!
